The phenomenon and mechanism of metal pipeline corrosion are complex, and the common classification methods are as follows:

According to the corrosion environment, it can be divided into chemical corrosion, atmospheric corrosion, seawater corrosion and soil corrosion;

According to the characteristics and mechanism of corrosion process, it can be divided into chemical corrosion (including gas corrosion and corrosion in non electrolyte solution), electrochemical corrosion, physical corrosion, etc.

There are two main types of metal pipeline corrosion: uniform corrosion and local corrosion.

Uniform corrosion is uniform corrosion on the surface of the whole metal pipeline, and the risk of uniform corrosion is generally small. Local corrosion is that the whole metal pipeline is limited to a certain area, while other parts are almost not corroded.
