Application of anode ground bed filler

No matter the graphite anode is buried shallowly or deeply, it is necessary to add backfill. Generally, high silicon cast iron anode needs to add backfill, but it may not be used in special geological conditions, such as swamp, quicksand zone, etc.


1. Function of anode ground bed filler

① The contact between anode and soil is increased to reduce the grounding resistance;

② The packing can eliminate the blocking gas;

③ The anode electrode reaction is transferred between the filler and the soil to prolong the service life of the anode.


2. Requirements for fillers

① The filler particles must be conductive to ensure good conductivity between anode and soil;

② Fillers should have low cost, wide source and continuous contact surface.


3. For anode ground bed backfilling

To ensure good electrical contact between anode and backfill, packing must be tamped around anode, otherwise a part of current will flow directly from anode to soil, thus shortening the service life of anode. In clay area, if the current of anode ground bed is too large, the hard plastic pipe with hole can be used, and the gas generated around the anode can be discharged from the ground in time. For dry areas, water can be injected into the ground bed to reduce the grounding resistance.
