Cathodic protection of industrial container equipment

With the rapid development of industrialization, industrial production has put forward higher requirements for the operation safety of container inner wall protection. The requirements for corrosion resistance of container equipment are higher and higher, and the requirements for internal protection are also higher and higher. In recent years, many protective devices have been put into operation, because new devices need to be maintained, old or damaged devices need to be preserved, and the operation cost must be reduced.


Materials used for metal containers and equipment include ordinary carbon steel, hot-dip galvanized steel, stainless steel, copper and its alloys. The corrosion resistance of these materials in water varies greatly, and the electrostatic potential as a protective potential varies greatly. We usually adopt reasonable structure design, proper anode number and arrangement to ensure reasonable current distribution. At the same time, if the forced current protection is used, it may lead to excessive hydrogen evolution.


In the petrochemical plant area, underground oil, natural gas, water and heat pipelines crisscross. Due to the strong corrosive medium spread inside, the corrosion of external soil and the interference of stray current, leakage accidents occur from time to time, which leads to accidental maintenance and replacement of pipeline equipment, and even affects the production and operation of enterprises, resulting in huge direct and indirect losses.


Therefore, more and more enterprises pay attention to the regional cathodic protection of the whole petrochemical plant buried pipeline, which is also the need of petrochemical enterprises to strengthen safety production. In the tank farm, several pipelines and tanks connected with them can be considered as a whole for local small-scale cathodic protection.


In the cathodic protection system, there is no need for electrical insulation between different pipelines or between pipelines and tanks, and the mutual interference between metal structures can be eliminated. The investment of cathodic protection in small area is far less than that of single cathodic protection project.
