The thickness of the backfill filled in the upper and lower parts of the anode should be 150 mm, and the thickness of the surrounding backfill should not be less than 100 mm. The quality of backfill material should be inspected and accepted before it is suitable for pit filling, in which soil and other impurities must be avoided. Moreover, in the process of backfill, it is necessary to tamp the filled filler before continuing to fill it.

During backfilling, the anode cable must be protected. The high silicon cast iron anode cable and anode bus cable should be connected in the junction box. The distance between the surface of directly buried cable and the ground shall not be less than 0.8mm. For the installation of auxiliary anode ground bed, the position of anode ground bed shall be determined according to the cathodic protection plan.

The vertical distance between the anode ground bed and the protection pipeline must be in accordance with the design requirements. The auxiliary anode ground bed should be selected in the environment with low soil resistivity as far as possible, which is conducive to the current output. The anode joint must be sealed and reliable, and there should be no obvious defects on the anode surface. When the construction party receives the anode, it must first carry out the inspection and acceptance according to the product performance index. Because the physical properties of high silicon cast iron are brittle and easy to break, special care should be taken in the process of handling and transportation, so as to avoid fracture due to collision.

Another point is that the anode wire must not be used as a lifting tool when lifting anode. In this way, it is easy to break the connecting wire of the anode, which leads to the abnormal use of the anode. Therefore, it is strictly forbidden to use the lead wire of anode in the process of handling, and the anode should be handled with care. No less than 100 mm fine sand and soil shall be padded around the directly buried cable. Such requirements are mainly to ensure the normal operation of cathodic protection system and the flow of current. In the composition of the whole cathodic protection system, in addition to the quality of the anode, the cable is also very important. Only when they are successfully connected, can the cathodic protection be effective.
